Staff Duties

Managing Editor Duties

  • perform all duties of a board member in good standing
  • set and maintain publication deadlines
  • post issue contents to website according to publication deadlines
  • provide an annual report of ACJ publication activity of previous year during first board meeting of each year
  • maintain a master file of all submissions, reviewers and decisions
  • notify contributing authors in writing of receipt of manuscripts and revise/resubmit or rejection decisions in a timely fashion
  • secure reviewers for submissions
  • consult with associate editors about rejection decisions as needed
  • provide associated editor with information needed to complete the revise/resubmit process in a timely fashion
  • maintain a 6-8 week review process schedule 
  • maintain a master file of all articles published during tenure
  • maintain a master file of letterheads, email notification templates, reviewer forms, thank you letters, publication templates, and copyright agreement forms
  • maintain a master file of website, host and ftp usernames and passwords
  • maintain records of contractual agreements entered into with EBSCOHost and other searchable databases
  • post announcements and calls for papers on website as needed

 Associate Editor Duties

  • perform all duties of a board member in good standing
  • maintain publication deadlines
  • consult with the managing editor about the review process as needed
  • offer suggestions about calls for papers when necessary
  • guide contributing authors through the revise/resubmit process
  • assist authors with grammar and spelling as needed if English is not their first language
  • secure additional reviewers if necessary
  • provide authors with official acceptance letters and final proofs of their manuscripts and copyright agreements for approval
  • format manuscripts according to publication template for articles
  • maintain a master file of completed copyright agreements

 Book Review Editor

  • perform all duties of a board member in good standing
  • maintain publication deadlines
  • develop relationships with book publishers for material to review
  • submit a list of books to review for journal at least twice a year
  • guide contributing authors through book review process
  • assist authors with grammar and spelling as needed if English is not their first language
  • secure additional proofreaders if necesssary
  • provide authors with official acceptance letters and final proofs of their reviews and copyright agreements for approval
  • format reviews according to publication templates for book reviews
  • maintain a master file of copleted copyright agreements
